Technology Plan Components - Needs Assessment

  2.   Needs Assessment
      2.1  

Assessment process used to analyze the district technology needs that will be addressed in the plan. Identify the data collection tools or evidence used to assess technology needs. These are listed as 'evidence' on strategies listed in the technology plan.


      2.2  

Current conditions for the district and campuses targeted in this plan, including telecommunications services, hardware, software, instructional and other services. The current state of technology as determined by analyzing the evidence collected when evaluating district and campus technology use.

      2.3  

Identified Needs: Summary of the technology needs and issues identified by the assessment. The needs identified will be the basis for determining goals, objectives and strategies. Assure telecommunications, Internet Access and infrastructure needs are addressed here as E-rate auditors review this part of technology plans during selective audits.

Example:
Findings from this needs analysis are as follows:
• Teacher and administrator surveys indicate that Professional Development is a high priority throughout the district. Campus STaR Chart results show that most teachers are at the early and developing stages of technology use and integration. District expectations are for all staff members to meet the current SBEC Technology Applications standard.
• Additional student stations and computer projection devices are needed in classrooms to facilitate student-centered learning.
Upgrade the Infrastructure for three campuses.
